The grips hold a single 12gm CO2 Capsule and a 17 round steel BB magazine, that fires in a semi-automatic mode, producing velocities of up to 325 fps. The CO2 powered M1911 A1 pistol in 4.5mm steel BB format has a full metal action and slide, weighing in at 950gm (3.1lbs), the same weight and dimensions as the original. For many the strength, accuracy and reliability of the design means the M 1911 remains “first among equals.” It is probably the most readily recognised pistol in the world, and though the US government only procured around 2.7 million of these weapons, it is estimated that more than 10 million have been produced worldwide. The M1911 was widely used in World War I, World War II, the Korean War, the Vietnam War and the other conflicts such as “The Bay of Pigs” and the sectarian violence in Ireland during the 1970s and 1980s. For our CO2 powered, steel BB firing version we have replicated the M 1911 A1 variant, adopted as the standard in 1924.
